The workshop } Open Spaces { offers an agile and practical approach to digital methodologies and tools to involve local communities in the decision-making processes and implementation of new uses of buildings or areas with historical or cultural value. Some models of governance and economic management will be presented, as well as experiences that seek to empower communities and give new life to disused heritage that could be applied in similar contexts. An initial proposal for an online participation platform based on Decidim will be presented, and has been adapted by Platoniq for the collective management of spaces in regeneration and reuse. Finally, participants will part take in designing participatory processes and devising new features taking into account the experience of the participants and the needs of their communities.

Workshop Objectives:

  •  Share cases of collective / cooperative management of European abandoned spaces.

  •  Share and discuss a proposal for an online participation platform to manage regenerated or abandoned cultural space with Arquitecturas colectivas

  •  Get to know Decidim and learn to propose participatory processes with established modules and functionalities.

  • Collectively devise new uses of Decidim, imagining features for better management, governance or the creation, improvement and development of cultural projects in abandoned and rejuvenated spaces.
