1st Snack: The AI Steps In

Scene and Character Development

The group worked on how to introduce new characters into scenes featuring AI as the protagonist. The idea was not just to add new figures, but to understand what role they play, how they alter the conflict, and what possibilities for transformation they open up.

The result was two new scenes, which you can comment on, improve, or remix as you see fit:

1. One of them, “Between FOMO and JOMO,” explores the conflict between attention and well-being: how technology captures, fragments, and generates FOMO, and how we can respond with collective support, sound judgment, and regulation: https://openspaces.platoniq.net/processes/R1/f/540/debates/14

2.- The second, “An AI to Control AIs,” on the other hand, explores the conflict between discrimination and algorithmic justice: how systems classify, exclude, or cause harm, and how a guardian AI, together with a community, can expose bias and redistribute responsibility: https://openspaces.platoniq.net/processes/R5/f/545/debates/149

But first...

Topics such as digital addiction, attention control, and the ability of platforms to shape individual and collective behaviors were discussed. Through an exercise that involved reconfiguring the previously identified scenes to think about AI in a more creative way—breaking away from conventional ideas about technology and algorithms—the group proposed various objects to represent artificial intelligence: glasses, a magnifying glass, a muzzle, a pipe, a camera, or a wheelchair, among others.

These metaphors helped us think of AI as a filter that alters reality, a tool that can broaden or narrow our perspective, a device that shapes our voice, or a technology that can create dependency.

Debate on the Risks and Opportunities of AI: Messages in AI

This reflection allowed us to move beyond the idea of AI as a neutral tool and understand it as a technology with its own interests, biases, limitations, and possibilities.

Participants debated the benefits and risks of artificial intelligence. A critical perspective was expressed, questioning who truly benefits and warning of the potential replacement of certain jobs.

It was also emphasized that AI should protect people’s privacy, not violate it. The group agreed to preserve the images, metaphors, and reflections generated so they could be used in the development of new scenarios.
